Hawker School COLA
As part of the Department for Education’s Schools Upgrade Fund (SUF) initiative, Weathersafe was engaged to deliver a new outdoor learning facility for Hawker Area School.

Weathersafe designed and constructed a 30m x 17m COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) structure to enhance the school’s outdoor learning environment.
The structure provides a sheltered, multi-purpose space for play and outdoor lessons, improving usability throughout the year, including during harsh summers and wet winters.
The project was delivered in line with DfE facility design standards, engineering specifications, and all relevant planning and compliance requirements.
Client feedback:
We are very happy with the result. The COLA looks great and the project was done within a short timeline, with no extra expenses to the School. This is really important to a very small school such as ours. We now have an area not only for play in the recent irritating winter weather and also for the expected intense summers that we always get. We also have facility for our HPE and other outdoor lessons and activities that our classes now have the option to run under the COLA roof.
Feedback from the School Principal at Hawker Area School.
